Remember that brief period when MGMT wasn’t a self-indulgent, nonsensically psychedelic band sniveling about their own commercial success? I do. But it’s likely that people won’t remember for long. Especially with the atrocity which is their sophomore LP.
Seems i’m posting a lot about bands that I have a love/hate relationship with lately. What’s up with that?
This isn’t necessarily a “childhood” movie, per se, but it in many ways, it hit high school right on the head. Obviously, it was dramatized but it nailed cliques and a lot of the hilarity in your typical high school “characters.”
You could easily write this movie off as just one of the original teen comedies, but there’s a lot going on there beneath the surface.
Interviewer: So uh, you guys have a big blues background, so does coming to Chicago make you feel anything?

Ratatat is a group I’ve been following since their second album, Classics. They’re orchestrated electronica that’s heavy on the synths. They use a ton of percussion and often layer multiple rhythms.
Been meaning to check out this album for a while now. It seems like another step in the right direction for Ratatat. The album flows well while keeping each track fresh and innovative.
Kings of Leon are one of those bands you have to keep at an arm’s length. There’s just too much that goes into being one of their fans. Because, if you claim yourself as fan of KOL, then surely you haven’t listened to their first two albums. Because if you had, they’re so “insanely good” that you couldn’t possibly like the “corporate swill” that they’re making now.
But honestly, there’s something about being a fan of KOL that makes you feel like you are supporting Al Qaeda or something. Their attempt to be the quintessential rockstars is so outrageously self-important that it’s hard to swallow.
Anyways, after all that… this is my favorite song on the new album.

Not sure how I feel about these guys just yet. I do enjoy this track, however.
This live mix of Europe’s Final Countdown and DJ Shadow’s Midnight in a Perfect World performed at last year’s Pretty Lights NYE gig gets me all sorts of silly about this year’s in Chicago! I sincerely feel bad for all those who won’t be in attendance.
When I first started taking pictures with my iPhone, I thought Flickr was the perfect service to host them. However, as time goes by and I spend more time with Tumblr, posting my pics here, I find myself spending less time on Flickr. Anyone else feel the same?
I’ve been, more and more, able to tolerate glitchy and dubsteppy kind of stuff. I still can’t handle real, over-the-top sweeping dubstep but stuff like this is pretty sweet.
I still don’t like that Tumblr hasn’t accounted for embedding music players as an option for audio posts.
